Alentejo – The best of Portugal is here

Alentejo is the largest district in Portugal, located in the south, with three main cities: Portalegre, Évora and Beja. The economy is based on agriculture, animal meat production, wine, olive oil and cork production.

The weather is very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. On the Alentejo coast, the climate is much more pleasant and warm. The Alentejo coast has small towns and villages, almost deserted beaches, excellent for surfing and other sea sports.

Alentejo is the ideal place for those who appreciate good food, good wine and good life.

The landscapes are endless, mostly cereal-growing plains, gilded by the sun. In autumn, the vineyards paint the landscape in red. Hundreds of years old cork oaks grow into dense green forests.

There are many properties of large houses of rich lords, small palaces or large villas, always with gardens and swimming pools to cool off in the summer. It has become, in recent years, one of the most desired places for Portuguese and wealthy foreigners, who buy large properties and houses to take some time off.

In the dam it is possible to practice many activities, such as boat trips, fishing, horseback riding, etc. There are also several recent and very high quality hotels.
